Four former members of the Jehovah’s Witnesses had told a Russia’s Supreme Court how they were swayed by the 'church' against receiving higher education or having a family.
A wtiness, Natalia Koretskaya from St. Petersburg had told the court she had been a member of that organisation from 1995 to 2009 and had discovered over this period that the group's members “were living under full and complete control of the "Jehovah’s Witnesses" Administrative Centre.”

Koretskaya said she had been dismissed from the religious organisation and its members had been banned to communicate with her after she started an officially unregistered relationship with a man.

Facebook shareholders demand report on fake news threat to Politics
The Real Problem Behind the Fake News harming our politics
Shareholders have advocated that Facebook Inc. prepare a report on the threat fake news spread on the social media poses to politics and free speech,
According to a proxy filing made on Friday, which its board of directors have recommended a vote against, the shareholders also want the report to look into the dangers fake news may cause to the company itself.
The suggestion, which recommends the company review the issue broadly, said Facebook had provided a financial mechanism supporting false content on the internet.
It was reported on Saturday, that it also includes the extent to which it blocks fake posts, how its strategies impact free speech and how it assess claims in posts.
According to the proposal, “Facebook is highly unprotected, as fake news promoters are spamming their way to visibility for fake news through systematically gaming Facebook’s algorithms and publishing platform.”
It added that, “In light of the societal crisis generated by the explosion of fake news and related hate speech, failure to effectively manage this issue creates public policy danger.”
The U.S. presidential election of 2016 brought the fake news issue to the radar, as many incorrect posts were widely shared on Facebook and other social media services.
The social platform, however, said it was resolving the problem.
On Thursday, more than 30,000 accounts were suspended in France, ahead of the country’s presidential election.
Similarly, the media platform already has a program in France to use outside fact-checkers to combat fake news in users’ feeds.
In the meantime, shareholders also suggest a gender pay equality report be prepared by December, with recommendations that the company reveal the percentage pay gap between male and female employees across race and ethnicity and the policies taken to address the gap.
furthermore, they want the media platform to state the technique used to take those measures as well as targets that could be set to close up the gap.

world's most evil street gang butcher four people in New York
The world's most deadliest street gang whose over 100,000 members want to top the world league for murder are suspected to have butchered four people in New York.
Police believe Mara Salvatrucha - also dubbed MS-13 - were responsible for the deaths of four males, in a park in Central Islip, a working-class community about 47 miles east of New York City.
Suffolk County Police discovered the bodies late on Wednesday in a wooded area. It wasn't instantly clear what led them to the park.
The victims "suffered from severe trauma throughout their body with a sharp instrument," county Police Commissioner Timothy Sini said.
"The way in which they were killed is in line with the modus operandi of MS-13," Sini told reporters.
MS-13 is one of the largest criminal group in the United States, with more than 6,000 members in at least 46 states and the District of Columbia, the US Attorney's Office said.
In addition, more than 30,000 MS-13 members work internationally, mostly in El Salvador, Mexico, Honduras and Guatemala.
Its members are typically identifiable by their facial and body tattoos - as well as their use of their own hand signals.
They are expected to remain loyal to the merciless gang, with punishments including the amputation of limbs and murder.
In one similarly horrific case, a pregnant gang member who had been a government informant was stabbed 16 times by two other members.
Her body was found by a pertubed fisherman on a river bank in 2003.
Although MS-13 originated in Los Angeles, its core membership reportedly comes from El Salvador.
The Mara Salvatrucha name comes from 'mara' - a Central American term for gang, salva- which refers to El Salvador, and trucha, which means trout in English, is slang term for clever .
As well as sporting large tattoos on their bodies and faces, gang members use hand signs referencing the devil to communicate.
One of the most widely publicised MS-13 crimes took place in Honduras in December 2004, when a bus was showered with automatic gunfire.
The attack, which took place just two days before Christmas Days, killed 28 civilian passengers, most of whom were women and children.
As passengers screamed and ducked, another gunman then seemingly climbed aboard and butchered passengers.
The killing was said to be in opposition at plans to bring back the death penalty.
The discovery of the bodies comes about a month after more than a dozen MS-13 members were charged in seven killings on Long Island over three years, including the deaths of several high school students last year.

Why the N5,000 monthly stipend to unemployed Nigerians is facing implementation challenges
Can the N5,000 monthly stipends be able to alleviate the sufferings of the unemployed Nigerians
The Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo has said that the Federal Government was facing some challenges in the implementation of the N5,000 monthly stipend to unemployed Nigerians.
Speaking at a media summit with journalists organised by the Presidency’s Office of Digital Engagement at his residence in Abuja, Osinbajo said government was facing the challenge of “ascertaining the right beneficiaries” for the programme.
He said, “The recent World Bank yardstick isn’t as effective in reaching the five million people we estimated and that is why we have only reached one million people
The Vice President also revealed that the welfare programme had been extended to 10 states as the government continues to manage resources.
Speaking on why some high profile detainees like leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, IMN, Ibraheem El-Zakzaky and former National Security Adviser, NSA, Col Sambo Dasuki(rtd) have not been released yet, Osinbajo said the presidency had to ignore court orders because of lawyers’ penchant for extending cases indefinitely.
Northern elders against restructuring of Nigeria
Many of the leaders of the Northern part of Nigeria have strongly kicked against the calls in some parts of the country to be restructured in order to make the nation more productive.
The northern leaders yesterday rejected the calls and insisted that the federal government must vote more resources for exploration of oil in the region.
The northern leaders, who were members of the 2014 National Conference, in a meeting in Abuja, spoke on the forum of the Northern Delegates’ Forum.
They said, “The North was not given fair representation in the conference with 189 representatives despite its landmass of 70 per cent and 55 per cent of the country’s population.
“Therefore, we were not satisfied with the report and have come out with this second report and communique.”
A former Minister of Power and Steel in the Sani Abacha regime, Bashiru Dalhatu, while presenting his hallmark address also said, “The 2014 national conference had 492 members and the north which constitutes about 70 per cent of the country’s landmass and 55 per cent of its population was allotted 189 delegates while the South with only 30 per cent of the landmass and 45 per cent of its population was given 305 delegates.
“This went against reasonable demographics, law and practice, which could have hardly been done in good faith. Certainly it was intended to put in particular our delegates and the North in general at a disadvantage.
“All attempts to get the President Goodluck Jonathan administration, including pleas by well meaning Nigerians who genuinely wanted a national conference to reflect the diversity and complexity of the Nigerian society, prove unsuccessful.
“To recapitulate and maintain our position that the report of the confab is of questionable legal validity, the outcome of a process that lacks popular mandate or support and major decisions were arrived at by undemocratic means or at variance with due process.
“To disunite the NDF from any attempt by any group to seek to implement or force the federal government or any of its institutions to use the report of the conference, under any guise for the purpose of restructuring Nigeria.
“To call upon any group of sponsors or individuals campaigning for any form of restructuring of the federation, firstly, to respect the existing constitutional order and to seek to do so within the bounds and limits stipulated under our constitution and law. To suggest otherwise would lead to disorder and anarchy,” the NDF said.

Man allegedly killing his own mother appears in court
How can someone allegedly kill because of greeting
Godwin Banchir,24, appeared before a Jos High Court, on Wednesday, charged with killing his 65-year-old mother.Banchir, following to the prosecutor, Luka Pam, killed his mother for refusing to reciprocate his greetings.
The judge, Justice A. I. Ashom, adjourned the matter to May 30, for hearing, after Pam requested an adjournment to allow him present a key witness.
Pam, of the Plateau State Ministry of Justice, said that the witness, a police personnel, was “unavoidably away on police duties”.
The accused person was first arraigned on June 22, 2016 on a one-count charge of culpable homicide, an allegation he had since denied.
According to Pam, the accused committed the offence on January 27, 2016 at his home in Fuskar Mata Village, Bassa Local Government Area, in Plateau.
Pam told the court that on the said date, the accused used a stick to strike his mother, one Saratu Banchir, which later resulted in her death.
The prosecuting counsel said that the accused had told the police, in a confessional statement, that he killed his mother because he was angry that she did not respond to his greetings.
The statement quoted the accused as saying that when he woke up at 6 a.m on the said date, he saw his mother sitting in the compound, while on his way to his farm, and greeted her, but that she did not responded.
It further quoted the accused as saying that her silence annoyed Banchir, who used a stick and the handle of his axe, to beat her until she lost consciousness.
The prosecution quoted the accused as saying that when he struck his mother on the rib and stomach, she fell down and let out a loud cry which drew the attention of neighbours and family members.
The statement said that Banchir’s uncle, one Godwin, rushed into the compound and took the woman to the hospital for treatment and, on his return, beat up the suspect before handing him over to the police.
“The statement shows that the accused was in the habit of quarreling with his mother anytime he was hungry.
“It (statement) also claimed that the woman used to challenge her son whenever he fetched water from her room to take his bath,” Pam added.
He further quoted the accused as alleging that he did not know that the beating would result in the death of his mother.
The prosecutor then told the court that the offence contravened section 221 of the Penal Code, Laws of Northern Nigeria, and was punishable with death, upon conviction. (NAN)
